Yoo Ah In’s critically acclaim movie BURNING keeps on giving up until the major awards season has over (read: after the Academy Awards). Since its Cannes premiere, Lee Chang Dong’s film has bagged 85 wins and 179 nominations so far from all over the world under its belt. What a long title we got here! Yes, doves and unicorns who love seeking Sik, it’s because the masterpiece called “BURNING” is harvesting accolades left and right. Aren’t you get tired yet, Team BURNING? Nu-uh. Not yeet.
Lee Chang Dong’s mystery-thriller BURNING has been selected as South Korea’s contender in the foreign-language category of the Oscar (The 91st Academy Awards). The film had its première in competition earlier this year at the Cannes International Film Festival.
At Cannes it won the FIPRESCI Prize awarded by film critics and also the Vulcan technical prize for its art direction.
